A year has passed through.

It's been a very long time I didn't come here, so let's try to start over again :-)
It was a hard year, I've changed place of living and I finally finished the university.  Wooh :)
Anyway I do remember all my friends here, especially cause sometimes this is the only place I can talk to them ;)
These busy and nervous days hopefully came to the end and this Friday I'm leaving for hot and sunny Montenegro :)
As promised, I'm sharing with all of you some photos of my tailed sweeties:
Unfortunately, some months ago Haron passed away.
I'm missing him so much... I was even unable to leave the final word on him on my rat.ru forum, so let here be his last picture.
He was not old and ill, but one day his heart just got tired. I could do nothing.

To ease my grief Haron left his son with me - Lancelot. He's a very big boy :) 700g in 6 months is a rare for rats. He's a leader in my small rat family.

And Lancelot's uncle - Petsval. He's like his fater - Valar - calm and kind. He loves Lancelot, unless he's being beaten regularly by him (Lancelot is in a interesting period of life called "I can be Alfa!").

understanding sendmail better

One and a half day I've beed fighting with sendmail.
The issue is like the following:
I've have mail server on google (google app) for my domain (lets call it domain.ru) and I've have a dedicated server for that domain, that runs site/forum. Let the server name be domain.ru. Forum sends messages to it's users (notifications and like). Most of users have mails on external mail servers (mail.ru, gmail.com and like) and a few users have mails on my domain.ru server.
MX records point to google.
Sendmail that runs on domain.ru server thinks mails for user_name@domain.ru as local and do not send them to google (!), other mails are sent OK.
Playing with MAIL_HUB/LOCAL_RELAY/stickyhost gave no luck. All the mails sent to user_name@domain.ru were put into /var/spool/mail instead of sending to google :(
/etc/hosts of the server has the record pointing that its external IP XX.XXX.XXX.XXX is domain.ru what is a real true :)
That's why when sendmail got mail like user_name@domain.ru it treat it like local.
Changing name of XX.XXX.XXX.XXX in /etc/hosts from "domain.ru" to "domain" brought no luck: mails sent to user_name@domain.ru started to be sent to google, but it appeared that some other mail servers like pochta.ru check the name of the sender and reject the mail if sender name cant be resolved ("domain" points to nowhere).
What's the next? Googling doesnt help: some advices are not acceptable, some other do not work at all :(

The solution appeared to be straight and simple.
I've changed the name where points XX.XXX.XXX.XXX in /etc/hosts to "www.domain.ru". Now when sendmail gets mail like user_name@domain.ru it doesnt think it to be local (for sendmail local mail should be user_name@www.domain.ru now!) and sends mails to google. External mail servers (like pochta.ru) can now resolve "www.domain.ru" host!

Let's play a game!

Along with a several thousands of other people reading some blog, I was tagged by its author. Now I'm going to write seven things about myself. Lets try to start....

1. I collect rat's and dog's whiskers :) I've almost 100 of them.

2. On the second grade of University, during summer practice, we were trained how to drive a tractor.
It was going to be funny time, but once I sit inside and machine started, I was so scared, that closed my eyes and drove some time with closed eyes :)

3. When I'm alone, I hate silence. I always switch music on to feel comfortable.

4. After finishing school I passed several preliminary examinations to different universities. Just for fun. I liked passing exams.


5. I want to see Germany. This is my dream to take a camera and travel across this country. I do not know why, but it attracts me.

6. I'm found of Pleo and just several months ago really dreamt of having such an electronic pet :-)

7.  This this the first time when I take part in internet game and the first time I was tagged :)

For the very first time...

Winter of 2010 is going away. Hurray?

It was a unbelievable cold and long, it felt like it was even longer and snowier that dozens of previous winters.

Anyway, in it's last month it's started to be much warmer and some days presented us not only with a freezing wind, but also with a nice pictures of fluffy snow lying around.

You already know, that usually, I do not understand black and white Winter World, it immediately makes me tired and sleepy, but some special to me person could show me that even Winter has it's own beauty...

It was my first experience with tripod :-)

It's gold like in a Hell in MSK this year. I really cant remember such a cold winter when it was -20 -25C for weeks and when it was not possible just to have a walk without fear to get completely cold somewhere during the walk.
In a such long-long sun-free days it's a special pleasure to remember all the past summers and to dream of the coming ones...
I miss green leaves, hot sun, singing birds and insects, I miss walking through blooming trees and taking pictures of the colourful world. If you ever know, how much I hate 'black-and-white' world, I just do not understand it without colours, it's not a part of _my_ Universe...
My ones is different... :)

[rat.ru] New life has began

Yeah!
I've finally transferred my beloved rat.ru to a new,payed,dedicated hosting.
Thanks to my friends I've chosen keyweb.de as a hosting provider.
This is already a week, when the site and forum up and running, this is already a week I've stopped old mail server and switched the forum back to sendmail (old school - forever! lol :) ). It's a very strange and somelike nostalgic feeling when you stop old software, that worked for you several years and start another one. I even felt a bit sorry for communigate server while stopping it:) Really good, but too expensive software, heh :)
This is the fist time when I worked with openvz software. I should mention that It's easy and convenient to install and tune it, the only thing the administrator must be aware of is how the kernel manages system resources, cause my greatest problem was "fork: unable to alloc memory" :) According to google, this is one of the most popular openvz issue, openvz manuals even mentions some ways to sort it out, but only thinking and reading additional documentation helps to solve it.
In common, it was too fast and somehow sudden transfer, but I should say It was successful. For the first time in the last half year, my favourite toy works as it should and my users are happy :)

back to past or let me back to support

Not, really, that was the most fascinating time, full of fun, friendship in this company and it's pity that I fully realized this only after years I quitted. I miss all my friends I had when working there.
I see people leaving, I see new faces of people I'll never know, I sincerely happy when I can talk to people I'd been working with, now I even happy to talk to our customers :) I like going upstairs, looking and chatting to the people I worked in support with, joking, smiling, laughing, remembering :) Or do I just need to change something?
Yeah, you know, this is a feeling-in-one-moment. I'm a person who cant work with people anymore, but sometimes I need people around to be happy :) That's why right now I'm preparing training for supporters about linux kernel :-) I used to read trainings when working in support, and this is the only thing i can do now for them and make me remember the past times :). The only thing I feel I need to change now, is that I used just to talk, now I'm going to make audience talk to me, make suggestions, discuss topics. Will try to make fun for me and for them :)
